Tru-Care Physical Therapy Inc. is a team of local rehab specialists, led by Susan M. Hammond, PT. Tru-Care was established to restore dependable, professional, attentive care to the rehabilitation environment, which has become increasingly desensitized by the high-volume demands of corporate medicine.

Susan M. Hammond, PT, and her staff pride themselves on quality, personalized care to our patients to return them to optimal function in a safe, supervised environment.

Susan Hammond, PT

Susan is the clinical director and owner of Tru-Care Physical Therapy. She is a 1983 graduate of Boston University. Her clinical background prior to establishing Tru-Care Physical Therapy is quite diverse. Her initial experiences were in the area of acute trauma rehabilitation at a rehab hospital in Pittsburg, PA. This position focused on treatment of spinal cord injuries, CVA/strokes and head trauma. Susan has had many experiences in a variety of outpatient settings following that, including hospital-based, physician’s office-based and private practices. She has also provided services to the school departments in many RI communities.  One of the many exciting challenges in her PT career was to be involved with the Shake-A-Leg program from 1987-1990. This unique program provided secondary or advanced rehab for the spinal cord-injured population. One of her great achievements in this role was to assist many of her clients who were paralyzed to walk again with the use of assistive aids.

Susan began Tru-Care because of her interest in orthopedics and her continuing education in manual therapy techniques. She felt she could best serve the community in a private practice setting that allowed her to implement all of those skills in the rehab of her clients, spending the needed amount of time and hands-on treatment, as well as education for each of her clients.

She has recently completed coursework on shoulder rehabilitation and manual therapy of the spine. Kim lives in North Kingstown with her husband Chris and sons Alex and Sam.
